About Richard Fix

Biography

R. Jobe Fix, M.D., FACS, serves as a Professor in UAB Surgery’s Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Fix maintains a busy clinical practice at The Kirklin Clinic, VA Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Alabama, UAB Hospital and Mountain Brook Plastic Surgery. He performs all types of plastic surgery with a focus on breast reconstruction and hand surgery. He has advanced and refined microsurgical techniques used in breast reconstruction using autologous tissues—the T.R.A.M. and D.I.E.P. flap procedures.
Dr. Fix has consistently been listed in “America’s Top Doctors” in addition to “The Best Doctors in America” and numerous other awards.
Dr. Fix has made over 17 medical mission trips to Ecuador as part of a combined group from UAB and the University of Kentucky. The group treats congenital anomalies and pediatric problems in an indigent population.
