About Matthew McCay
Biography
Dr. McCay graduated from The University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 2016. He received his M.D. with clinical honors from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 2020 and completed a residency in neurology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2024. During his final year, he served as chief resident. He now practices general neurology at UAB, the Birmingham VA Medical Center, and the Huntsville VA Medical Center. Dr. McCay treats the full spectrum of neurologic diseases including stroke, neuropathy, myopathy, myasthenia gravis, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, seizures, dementia, and headaches. He administers both Botox and nerve blocks for treatment. Dr. McCay also has a passion for medical student and resident education and serves as an assistant professor at UAB.

I laughed I joked I had the time of my life this was such a great experience the atmosphere of the workspace is very pleasant and peaceful so it was easy for me to be not nervous as I was before I got there I appreciate them and all that they do to care for their patients very professional and very sweet

Dr. McCay is one of the sharpest doctors I’ve ever met. Behind those intelligent eyes lie a level of caring and compassion not often seen. I believe he sets the pace for the entire office.
