About Larry Ver Hoef

Biography

Dr. Ver Hoef completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech and attended medical school at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed neurology residency and epilepsy fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he then became a faculty member at the UAB Epilepsy Center. He is board certified in Neurology (ABPN), Neuroimaging (UCNS), and Epilepsy (ABPN). He has a secondary appointment in Biomedical Engineering. He collaborates with the Auburn University MRI Research Center and is active in the Alabama Advanced Imaging Consortium and the Civitan International Neuroimaging Laboratory.

    Everyone is friendly. I am thankful to have Dr. Verhoef as my Neurologist. He tells me about all of the options I have with my VNS, he asks me what my thoughts are, and we come up with the final plan.

    The staff at the front desk are very, very helpful and extremely pleasant to work with. And all the doctor's staff are really terrific also! Their kindness and attentiveness really puts me at ease when I visit there!!

    Everyone is polite and cares about a person's visit. And treats everyone with respect in regards of their patients rights. The nurses are professional and also respect each patients needs. The physician is very helpful in explaining things to the patients and/or parents, making sure things are understood.
