About Kazumi Taguchi
Biography
Dr. Kazumi Taguchi is a physician–scientist, surgeon, and educator with extensive international experience in academic medicine and minimally invasive urologic surgery.
He completed his medical degree, residency, and fellowship training in Japan, followed by advanced research training at the University of California, San Francisco, where he specialized in endourology and surgical innovation. Dr. Taguchi later transitioned his career to the United States—earning ECFMG certification and U.S. permanent residency—to serve patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and complex kidney stone disease.
As a highly productive academic urologist, Dr. Taguchi has published more than 140 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has received multiple international awards for both clinical excellence and research contributions. He remains actively involved in medical education, mentoring trainees from around the world and presenting his work at major international conferences.
Dr. Taguchi’s clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive treatments, including laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP), ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy, miniaturized percutaneous nephrolithotomy (mini-PCNL), and advanced single-port (SP) robotic surgery. He has performed thousands of endoscopic and robotic procedures, allowing him to offer efficient recovery, reduced postoperative discomfort, and meaningful improvements in patients’ quality of life.
