About Joseph Coppiano
Biography
Dr. Joseph Coppiano is assistant professor of the Department of Family and Community at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in 2019 and completed residency training at the Medical College of Georgia Family Medicine Residency in 2022. He went on to complete fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles for sports medicine where he served as a team physician for UCLA athletics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He has also helped cover multiple mass events including the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race, Los Angeles Marathon, and the Oceanside Half Iron Man. Currently Dr. Coppiano serves as a team physician for UAB Athletics. Dr. Coppiano sees patients of all ages. His interests include nutrition/exercise prescriptions, running medicine, ultrasound-guided procedures, and education of medical students and residents. Dr. Coppiano lives with his beautiful wife, son, and rescued Labrador mix. He enjoys running, kayaking, and boardgames.
