About George Leef
Biography
George Leef MD, FACC received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2015. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Stanford (2018) and his Cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins (2021). He joined the faculty of the cardiology division at UAB in 2025. Dr. Leef has a particular interest and training in cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) imaging and its applications to coronary disease and structural interventions. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Society of Cardiovascular CT.
Dr. Leef sees adult patients for all general cardiology issues including chest pain, palpitations, cholesterol/lipid disorders, coronary disease, heart rhythm abnormalities, heart failure, and more.
"I see myself as primarily a guide and advisor for my patients. I think it's important to help my patients understand their disease and the possible treatment options and figure out what approach makes the most sense given their circumstances and priorities. If I think you definitely need to do something I will tell you, but if I think there is more than one reasonable option I think it's important to have that discussion with my patient."
