About Andrew Fang
Biography
Andrew Fang, M.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at UAB. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and neurobiology from the University of Texas at Austin before completing his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Houston McGovern Medical School. Dr. Fang went on to complete his urology residency at UAB, where he developed a strong connection to Birmingham and the UAB community. Following residency, he pursued advanced fellowship training in urologic oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, one of the nation’s leading cancer centers.
As a urologic oncologist, Dr. Fang specializes in the care of patients with cancers of the kidneys, prostate, and bladder. His passion for prostate cancer research was shaped by impactful mentors who inspired his interest in understanding the diverse behavior of this common disease. His work focuses on improving treatment strategies by better defining individualized approaches for each patient. Dr. Fang is also deeply committed to medical education and is excited about the opportunity to train and mentor the next generation of physicians and surgeons at UAB. In his clinical practice, he aims to provide exceptional cancer care to patients across Alabama and the region, bringing forward the latest advances and innovative treatment options in this rapidly evolving field.

Upon checking into the waiting area, the first front desk staff member appeared disengaged and uninterested. When I spoke, she looked up but did not acknowledge my presence. However, once I was assisted by another front desk staff member, the remainder of the team provided outstanding service and displayed excellent professionalism.
