Stan Han, MD, PhD

Dr. Han obtained his MD from Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, China, in 1987. He obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1998. Dr. Han completed Neurology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2008 followed by a Neuro-oncology fellowship in the MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2009. Dr. Han is board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Neuro-Oncology certified by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.

Dr. Han is currently Associate Professor of Neurology. He is an active participating member of the medical staff with the Neurology Service for UAB Hospital and an Associate Scientist in the Neuro-oncology Program at the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has secondary appointments with the Comprehensive Neuroscience Center at UAB.

Dr. Han's main clinical focus is treatment of central nervous system tumors and associated neurological complications such seizure and headaches, ect. Medical therapy is an integral part of treatment for patients with brain tumors and includes conventional chemotherapy, molecular targeting therapy, as well as the use of novel, experimental therapeutics that are designed to specifically kill brain tumors. Brain tumor treatment is frequently accomplished through collaboration with neurosurgery and radiation oncology, and Dr. Han serves as an active member in the multidisciplinary tumor treatment team.
